Things to do with your toddler

It’s been a week into the school winter break and our son is already looking bored.

Have you found anything interesting to do around Joburg?

I asked our friendly search engine for some help and these are some of the options.

Age 3+

From as long as I can recall our son has been into aeroplanes. He’s been fortunate to have flown in a few in his life too. Now that he’s at an age that he’s able to articulate clearly, his love for planes is expressed daily. Continue reading “Children’s Book Review : Amazing Aeroplanes & In the Jungle”

Is technology killing our family life?

Do we spend more time on technology than engaging with our kids?

The last few weeks I’ve picked up that our son is in his own way, yet subtle, demanding more engagement with me. I guess it could be any number of things contributing to this. Reflecting though, and looking around us at home there was one major, you can’t miss it, sign. Continue reading “Is technology killing our family life?”

Critical Mass Cycle with Kidical Berario

KidicalMass Cycling - Berario

For a while now I’ve been keen to get our son cycling with other kids, for no reason other than to boost his cycling confidence and away from the iPad.

Last week hubby mentioned that there was a group called Kidical Mass – Berario. An unofficial “Critical Mass” bicycle pace around the suburb of Berario as per the groups Facebook page.

Sounded fun.

Off we went. I was extremely surprised by the turnout… quite large for a Sunday afternoon. Continue reading “Critical Mass Cycle with Kidical Berario “

Why we chose Swimming lessons over Judo..

Why we chose Swimming lessons over Judo..We’re into week 3 of school this year and that means the start of the extramural activities. Last year our young man participated in KidiSports as we wanted him to be participating in an activity that would benefit his whole body and mind.

Being new to the structured school system and parenting of a toddler, we weren’t too sure what activity to put him into. KidiSport seemed like the perfect fit. I still do believe it was the best decision last year.  Continue reading “Why we chose Swimming lessons over Judo..”

When Kids Bite Their Mates

When Toddlers Bite

Yesterday hubby picked up our son and was informed that one of the other children in our son’s class decided to take a bite of our son! According to the teacher, they were all outside when the incident happened.

Like really!?

Last year we had a similar incident at the playschool. Both times as per feedback from the teachers, it was unsolicited.

Does my son give out some serious “bite me” pheromone? Continue reading “When Kids Bite Their Mates”

PediaSure* for the picky eater!

PediaSure Complete

We received a delivery from PediaSure for our young man while back.

He loves surprises and when he saw what was in the box from PediaSure he was beyond excited. Why? Only because he now has his own shaker like his dads.

I had not heard about PediaSure until Continue reading “PediaSure* for the picky eater!”
